Welcome. We’re glad you’re getting to know our new, parent-led organization, Parents for Public Schools of Greater Kalamazoo (PPS-GK). PPS-GK is just what it sounds like: a group of Kalamazoo County parents, grandparents, and community members who share the belief that public schools are stronger when parents are actively involved. Having enrolled our children in public school across the county we love, we’ve learned that true education reform, excellent schools, and successful students are most possible when parents are effective and engaged advocates for public education – in their living rooms, in statehouse hearing rooms, and in all places in between.
PPS-GK was founded by a group of parents working together to strengthen public schools across Kalamazoo County. As a 501c-3 nonprofit, PPS-GK is a chapter of the national organization Parents for Public Schools. PPS-GK operates independently of any of the nine public school districts in the county, teachers’ unions, and organized political parties. But PPS-GK operates collaboratively, as well, seeking out partnerships with anyone, any organization, whose good ideas and hard work put our children first.
